About Me

About Me

I have always loved art as a hobby for as long as I can remember, and I studied art in secondary school. However, there weren’t many options to pursue art as a career when I left school, so I spent a few years in college studying social sciences and worked in that area for many years as a Social Worker.

This experience has a had a major influence on my artwork, as I have a deep understanding of the challenges that many people face daily and the losses they may have experienced. Since I set up my business in January 2022, I have discovered the amazing power of art in evoking memories and emotions, and I now see my art as a different way of bringing healing and comfort to people.

I have developed a fascination with trees - their individuality and uniqueness, as well as their ability to withstand adverse weather conditions. This has inspired the design of my logo for my
brand which is a tree with a gold heart and green roots that keep it strong.

In the same way that the roots silently nourish and provide a firm foundation for all trees, I went back to my roots and chose the name Annie for my new business. I’m the youngest in my family and I have always been called Annie by my parents and siblings – my full name is Ann Marie- but that sounds way too formal for an art business! My mother inherited her mother’s gift for crochet and crafts, as well as a brilliant artistic eye for colour. My father was a carpenter and he was also one of a large family gifted with musical and artistic talent. They both gave me a wonderful foundation to grow over the years and to develop my skills, while teaching me to have empathy and respect for everybody.

When I create a new image, I carefully choose a name for it that will portray an important message -for e.g. “Hope”, “Celebration”, “Choices”. My images have also been a source of positive inspiration for some of my customers and my aim is to encourage a connection with the beauty of Irish nature and the seasonal changes, no matter where you live. I love connecting with people who purchase my art work so please let me know when you choose one of my pieces – whether it’s a painting, a print, a greeting card or a bookmark …..or one of each!

Thanks so much for supporting my small business where everything is done personally by me and please contact me if you have any queries.
